BIOGRAPHY
BAUDOUIN PROT was CEO and then Chairman of BNP Paribas from 2003 to 2014. During his tenure, he profoundly transformed the bank which
was historically French-centered into a truly European powerhouse. This was mainly achieved through two transforming acquisitions: BNL in Italy (2006) and Fortis in Belgium and Luxemburg (2009)
and steering the bank through the financial crisis. He was the only Bank CEO in Europe to launch a very large acquisition right in the middle of the financial crisis.
He has also extensive experience in crisis management. From 2007 to 2014, BAUDOUIN PROT steered BNP Paribas through all key events of
the financial crisis from the Lehman failure to Greek and European sovereign debt crisis. Baudouin Prot has a strong track record in both strategic development and transforming acquisitions.
Under his tenure, the Group staff more than doubled from 80,000 (60% in France) to 180,000 (60 % outside France) and active in 86 countries in the world.
BAUDOUIN PROT has always been very proactive during his tenure at BNP Paribas to promote the most advanced technologies. BNP Paribas
was the first bank in Europe to early and heavily invest in technology from 1997 to 2000 to create a fully real time inter connected multi-channel platform to serve customers. To this day, BNP
Paribas is considered as an industry reference. BNP Paribas also launched in 2013 HelloBank, the first mobile pan-European bank operating in France, Germany, Italy and Belgium.
EDUCATION AND EARLY CAREER
BAUDOUIN PROT is an alumnus of the HEC Business School where he received an MBA in 1972 and the National School of Administration (ENA)
from where he graduated in 1976. After graduating, Baudouin Prot joined the French Treasury (1976-1980). He was then was appointed Deputy Head for Energy and Commodities at the Ministry of
Industry (1980-1983).

INTERNATIONAL POSITIONS
He was member of the Board of the IIF (Institute for International Finance) in Washington, of the Shanghai IBLAC (International Business Leaders Advisory Council) and of the Singapore MAS
(Monetary Authority of Singapore) International Advisory Panel.
AWARDS AND HONOURS
2006: BAUDOUIN PROT was named “Financier of the Year” for the successful integration of BNL and once again in 2009: For successfully
steering BNP Paribas through the financial crisis and the integration of FORTIS.
2010: The Institutional Investor magazine named him “Best European Banking CEO”.
He is named Officer of the Legion of Honour and Officer of the National Order of Merit.
